Cabbie Andy Dickson, 40, from Skelmersdale, Lancashire, was left traumatised after being assaulted by two men.
Around midday, he left to pick up a fare from the town’s ASDA car park. Mr Dickson picked up two men and was asked to drive to Fordcombe Road, in Belle Vale. When he stopped the car at their destination, both men violently attacked him. One of the men placed a rope around his neck and the other stabbed him in the leg. The attackers fled the scene with a quantity of stolen cash.
Mr Dickson was left unconscious in his taxi. He later woke up and managed to get help in a nearby house. Due to the extent of his leg injury, he was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment.
Callous Taxi Assault
Detective Constable Keith Hampson told the Champion News: “This was a particularly callous attack, but thankfully incidents such as this are rare. Not only has the taxi driver been left with physical injuries but he has also been extremely traumatised by the experience.
“We are determined to catch those responsible for this heinous crime and I would urge anyone who knows anything about this incident to come forward and make contact with officers.”
