Answering a call of nature proved cold comfort for taxi driver Mohammed Saeed who received a ticking off from the council for leaving his cab unattended.
Mr Saeed received a reprimand from Wycombe District Council’s taxi chiefs after he left his taxi in High Wycombe’s High Street to use nearby public toilets.
He said: “I’d just taken people up to Gatwick Airport, got back to High Wycombe, parked in the taxi rank and desperately needed to use the toilet.”
Returning 20 minutes later he discovered council officials at his car who said a warning would be on its way.
“That warning will be on my file now for three years, it’s ridiculous”, moaned Mohammed.
“They need to relax their rules, use a bit of common sense and talk to us instead of treating us like children”.
Despite Mr Saeed’s complaints, the council is standing by its decision.
Spokesman Ben Jackson said there was a queue of hackney carriages behind Mr Saeed’s cab, the last of which was obstructing the road.
Mr Jackson said: “Officers spoke to him and explained the trouble his unattended vehicle had caused. He was advised that he would receive a warning for the offence and that warnings had been issued to other drivers in similar circumstances.”
