Police Scotland are searching for two men who brutally attacked a female private hire driver from Lanark.
Attack on Private Hire Driver
On Saturday 11th of February the 60 year old woman picked up her customer at around 10pm on Hyndford Road in her Peugeot Premier car. The male customer requested that she drove him to West Calder via Hope Street, opposite Lanark Fire Station, so that he could collect his friend.
Once both men were in the vehicle and the woman was closer to West Calder, the first passenger held a knife to the driver and demanded that she pull the car over.
Terrified, the woman did as she was asked and parked up at the side of the A704. At this point, the men dragged her out of the car and it’s understood that they throttled her until she was unconscious. When the victim came around she found that all of her jewellery was missing.

“We’re currently treating the attack on her as attempted murder.”
Both of the attackers are described as being of slim build, approximately six foot tall and have Eastern European accents. One man was wearing a black hoody, dark trousers and gloves whilst the other man was wearing a khaki coloured, army-style hoody.
Detective Inspector Stevie Bertram of Livingston CID said: “This has been an extremely traumatic ordeal for the victim and we’re currently treating the attack on her as attempted murder.
“As part of our investigation, we’re urging anyone with information about the incident or the identities of the men to get in touch. Likewise, if you may have seen the men in the Lanark or West Calder areas please call us as soon as possible.”
