A Glasgow taxi firm has announced its decision to get rid of the boundary charges for bookings made by telephone.

Glasgow Taxis Ltd is the largest supplier of licensed wheelchair accessible hackney taxis in the UK, outside of London, with a fleet of over 800 black cabs and says the move is intended to benefit its loyal customers.
“We want to reward those longstanding, valued individuals and businesses who regularly travel distances with us.”
Vice chairman Stephen Flynn, said: “The removal of the boundary charge for bookings made by telephone will remove any confusion while adding value and passing on savings to our customers.
“Fixed prices are easy to understand and provide certainty and reassurance for passengers.
“We want to reward those longstanding, valued individuals and businesses who regularly travel distances with us while also making our overall offering much clearer and simpler for people to understand.”
Modern Facilities
The development is the latest in an array of services rolled out by the company including the introduction of credit card payment facilities within all of its taxis with the ability to make contactless payments.
Stephen added: “It’s all part of Glasgow Taxis’ overall commitment to further improve the service we can offer and we will continue to invest in this area for the benefit of our customers.”
Police Warn of Unlicensed Cabbies
Police Scotland had earlier this month warned partygoers in the city to ensure they are using licensed taxis following a report of a 23-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted after being picked up by a bogus cab on Renfield Street.
Inspector Gavin Smith said: “I would like to remind everyone to use caution when travelling home and to take some simple precautions that will help keep you safe.
“Do not use unofficial ranks or unlicensed taxis, it’s simply not worth the risk.
“I would urge people to use NiteZone ranks or to only get into a private hire that they have booked themselves.
“Remember, all genuine taxi drivers carry ID, which you can always ask to see.
“Anyone with suspicions as to the legitimacy of any taxi driver should not get into the vehicle and should contact police.”
Glasgow Taxis Ltd has also created a booking app, which is available on iPhone and Android devices, allowing customers to book a cab quickly and safely through their mobile phone.
Stephen commented: “The unique advantage of our app is that customers are guaranteed a fully licensed taxi and a fully disclosed driver.”
