Big-hearted black cab drivers across Liverpool turned their meters off once again to treat children in care and their carers to an unforgettable trip to Pleasureland, Southport.
Running for its 31st year the Liverpool Taxi Drivers Children in Care Outing (LTDCCO) has seen cabbies treat over 12,000 kids since its establishment in 1985.
Colourful Convoy of Black Cabs

A sea of brightly coloured black cabs were cheered on as they arrived at the Old Swan Conservatory Club to collect the excited children for the big day out. Following a convoy of police motorcycle outriders, the cabbies set off on their journey to Southport, blasting their horns and gearing the children up for a fantastic day.
Seaside theme park Pleasureland has been host to the LTDCCO for the past three years and park boss, Norman Wallis, was delighted with the turn out.
He said: “We’re always keen to support the charity and ensure everyone has a great day.
“This year’s day out was as fantastic as always. Around 250 people descended onto Pleasureland arriving by the most beautifully decorated black cabs.
“The taxi drivers take great care in decorating their cabs fabulously and indeed there’s a healthy competition for the best dressed cab!”
Delightful
The youngsters were given balloons, lunch and a goody bag before being let loose into the park to enjoy the rides.
Facebook was buzzing with carers and cabbies over the moon with how well the day went.
One carer commented: “A massive thank you! We’ve got three shattered but very happy kids. We’re lucky to have such amazing people working so hard to make today happen.”
Another said: “Thanks once again the children had a great time! I was also impressed with the staff at the fair, all so very friendly and helpful.”
