Around 100 London taxi drivers switched off their meters in aid of the Annual Magical Taxi Tour, which gives children with life-threatening illnesses a chance to go on a trip of a lifetime to Disneyland Paris. The big hearted taxi drivers volunteered to take part in the event, driving sick and disabled children and their carers all the way to the French capital.
20th Anniversary
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the tour, which in that time has helped over 4,000 children make the dream trip. Lord Mayor of London, Sir David Howard, was on hand to get things underway by cutting a red ribbon, setting the long convoy of London black cabs and children on their way to Paris.
A team of medical assistants, ambulances, breakdown vehicles and a sweetie wagon followed the fleet of taxis throughout their journey to the Magical Kingdom. Each cab was sponsored by various supporting businesses and individuals.
VIP Guests
On their arrival in Paris, the kids enjoyed a full day at Disneyland, followed by a gala dinner – where a very special mouse and his friends put in a special appearance.
