An appeal has gone out over social media platform, Facebook, to find a caring taxi driver that stopped to help an elderly lady who had taken a bad tumble on Aileach Road, Londonderry.
Taxi Driver Goes Beyond the Call of Duty
The driver saw pensioner, Peggy, fall as she was crossing the road outside Ballymagroarty Chapel last Sunday.
Peggy’s daughter, Theresa Campbell, took to Facebook to try and find cabbie and thank him personally for his act of kindness.
She wrote: “He drove her home, helped her inside and then even gave her his own newspaper because she hadn’t made it to the shops to get one.
“When she arrived home she was able to call me and I took her to accident and emergency. She needed stitches to her head and cheek. She looks very battered and bruised but she’s fine.”

So far, the post has created quite a buzz! It has been shared by members of the public over a thousand times and has almost 1,500 ‘likes’ and comments.
One person commented: “Well done to a true gent, who went beyond the call of duty.”
Theresa added: “I just wish I knew who it was so I could thank him. He did a great, kind thing.”
