Private Hire driver Steve Skedgell runs a taxi company in Totnes, Devon. He has been in the taxi business for 11 years and decided to start his own business 4 years ago. He has recently welcomed his wife Sophie to his team and due to his expansion purchased a new Toyota Corolla from Cab Direct.

Steve is a fan of Toyotas for the taxi business. He says they are “super reliable” and thinks the 5-year warranty is great. When his wife started working with his business, she started driving the Toyota Auris Steve had been using and as he had been so impressed with the brand, he chose a Toyota Corolla Hybrid as his new cab. Steve was amazed that he could buy a taxi over the phone and found the sales process very easy. He said, “I called Cab Direct while driving around London and had my loan agreed over the phone.” Steve was delighted to take delivery of his car in July and has already driven 7,000 miles.
Comfortable and Spacious

The Toyota Corolla comes with a number of excellent features right from the base model including automatic LED lights, dual–zone air conditioning, heated seats and a reverse parking camera. When Steve was asked what he liked best, he raved about the Toyota touchscreen which comes with the Icon Tech models and above. “The screen is much bigger than in my previous taxi and it comes complete with Satnav and voice activation. I can simply say ‘call Sophie’ and the phone rings through the car. When I have passengers in the taxi, they can pick a song choice and it automatically plays through the app on my phone that’s linked to the car.”

Steve concluded “I would recommend Cab Direct, the salesman I spoke to on the phone was a really good guy and easy to deal with. Kevin even phoned me recently to check how I was getting on with the car. I would also highly recommend the Toyota Corolla – it’s a perfect car for a taxi – in fact, it ticks all the boxes. If you drive it sensibly you can get up to 70mpg!”
