Thumbs-up for Avensis Tourer

Avensis Tourer Shaun GoddenMAIN

December 6, 2012

Shaun Godden, from the market town of Wimborne in East Dorset, recently decided it was time to trade in his old cab for something new.  As a self-employed owner driver at Canford Cars, Shaun called leading taxi specialist Cab Direct to discuss his options.

Shaun explains: “I came across Cab Direct and decided to give them a call.  I spoke at length to Kevin, one of the sales reps and explained what I was looking for.

“As I do a lot of airport transfers it was important for me to have enough space for luggage.  We discussed the different warranties offered by different manufacturers too, as well as fuel consumption figures.

“Kevin was quick to recommend the Toyota Avensis TR Tourer, which seemed to tick all the boxes for my requirements.  After a bit of further research I decided he was right and placed my order.”

Shaun continues: “I’ve had my cab for over a month now and couldn’t be happier.  The service I received from Cab Direct was first class.”

Toyota Optimal Drive

When it comes to the miles taxis clock-up, good fuel economy has to be a key consideration.  The 2.0 litre D-4D turbo diesel engine offers the latest in performance engineering and efficiency.  Toyota’s fuel-saving features use low-friction, lightweight components and new ‘Optimal Drive’ engine technology combining optimum power with low fuel consumption and low emissions.

Delivering up to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle, the Avensis will help keep your fuel costs down.  Add Toyota’s five year / 100,000 mile warranty into the mix and you can be sure your running costs will stay under control.

Shaun says: “As a cab driver, fuel economy and running costs are always a concern.  I’ve been really impressed with the Avensis Tourer.  Not only that, the driveability of the cab is fantastic too.”

Outstanding build quality ensures the Avensis is a pleasure to drive. From the responsive diesel power plant to the smooth, 6-speed gearbox there’s no compromise about this superb workhorse.

Space & Practicality

With a cavernous 543 litre boot capacity, the Avensis Tourer provides plenty of luggage carrying capacity.  Inside, the Avensis offers loads of head and leg room too, plus numerous clever storage solutions to ensure you and your passengers enjoy a relaxing and comfortable ride – so important when you spend long hours at work behind the wheel.

With premium quality materials and a refined finish, the Avensis interior has also been designed to enhance your driving experience.

In terms of specification, the entry-level T2 is magnificent with standard equipment such as air-conditioning, electric windows, power assisted steering and a MP3-compatible radio/CD audio system with 6-speakers.   Upgrade to a higher spec model, as Shaun did and you’ll enjoy 17” alloy wheels, cruise control, driver powered lumbar support and more.

Shaun says: “The Avensis has a great feel to it.  I’ve had quite a lot of customers commenting on how comfortable the vehicle is.  It’d happily recommend it to any cab driver looking for a spacious and comfortable vehicle at a good price.”
