The Pride Of Tayside

Taxi passengers in the Scottish city of Dundee are celebrating the arrival of the first sixteen E7 taxis from Cab Direct.

The arrival of the purpose-built vehicles from the country’s leading taxi supplier means that the number of wheelchair-accessible taxis in the city has more than doubled.

So many cabbies turned up to show off their new taxis at Camperdown Country Park that one photograph wasn’t enough!

All of them agreed that the E7 has made a remarkable difference to passengers in the city, who have been just as impressed with the taxis as their drivers. “It’s an excellent vehicle”, said Stuart Ballie, who took delivery of his brand new E7 recently from Cab Direct sales executive Alex Hazlett.

One feature mentioned most at the gathering was the E7’s ability to take up to seven passengers, as well as their excellent wheelchair-accessibility. Fuel economy was also seen as having been greatly reduced, with its two-litre HDi engine achieving over fifty miles to the gallon.

One of the most important benefits that they had all noticed was the increased business they had all experienced, mainly due to the rear spoiler. The stylish spoiler, unique to the E7, features an illuminated “for hire” sign on either side, offering increased visibility for passengers waiting for a taxi.
