Meet our Sales Executive Terri Donaghue!

Meet the Cab Direct Team – Terri Donaghue

We sat down with Terri Donaghue, who has been with us for 14 years, to discuss what working at Cab Direct is like and what her favourite things about her role are.

As a Sales Executive, Terri helps taxi and private hire drivers find their perfect taxi.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your career

I’ve been here for around 14 years now, where I started out as an admin assistant and then I then moved on to sales admin. As an admin assistant I provided general support to the office like scheduling and communication whereas a sales admin supports the sales team specifically by managing sales and customer interactions. I really enjoyed both roles and they gave me a varied skillset which is very helpful in my current role as an executive in the sales team. I’ve been in the sales team for eight years now.

I’ve recently started a graduate degree in business management at the University of Strathclyde that I’ll be balancing that alongside my role at Cab Direct. The company support my education which is fantastic and makes my time spent studying much easier. I started working at Allied as soon as I left school, so now that I’ve decided to go to university, it’s great that the company are supporting me in developing my skills.  There are other people in the business also studying graduate degrees alongside their work so it’s really nice to know there are other people in the company in the same position as me and we can help and support one another.

What’s your role at Cab Direct?

It’s a varied role that always keeps me busy. I spend a lot of time speaking with new and existing customers, which I enjoy since I love a good chat – taking inbound enquiries and following up on sales calls. I also make courtesy calls after deliveries to ensure customers have received their new taxi and everything is as it should be, happily it usually is, we have a great team. Additionally, I have regular contact with businesses, large and small to check on their fleet needs and see if they need to place any new orders. Another key aspect of my job, which has grown hugely over the last few years is managing online inquiries, where customers browse our website and enquire via the site to learn more about the new and used taxis we offer.

I really enjoy meeting my customers in person, and it’s always a pleasure to meet them and learn more about their business and their taxi experiences. During these face-to-face handovers, we ensure they’re satisfied with their vehicle and confident in how to use it. These personal interactions are a highlight of the job and something I always look forward to.

What’s the one thing you enjoy most about the job?

No two days are the same, this job always keeps me on my toes! It’s really nice knowing that we’re able to make a positive impact in our customer’s lives, like Neil MacAskill from Teviot Taxis,  who I’ve been helping with taxis for a number of years and has recently purchased his ninth taxi. I really enjoy just being able to help customers overall, it’s a very rewarding role.

I’d say I also enjoy being able to help out across multiple departments. Having worked across multiple departments, I’ve got a wide range of knowledge. Its great knowing that I can help my colleagues out if they’ve got questions or need a hand. Some of the team have told me I’m a fountain of knowledge!

What do you love doing outside of work?

It’s all about spending quality time with my kids. I love family days out and spending time with the family and friends. Doing outdoor things and spending weekends away is perfect. Even if it’s just getting in the car and driving away somewhere close by, it’s the perfect way for me to spend my weekends and spare time.

Thank you, Terri!
