Long Distance Driving Range
The e-Niro from Kia is available in a choice of four different models. The base model ‘2’ has a 134 bhp electric motor and a 39 kWh battery pack. It can reach a top speed of 96 mph and the combined driving range is 180 miles. However, if you choose the higher-spec 3 or 4 models you’ll get a bigger electric motor (201 bhp) and battery (64 kWh). The top speed of these models is 104 mph and they have a long-distance driving range of up to 282 miles.
Design and Technologies
Beautifully designed, the e-Niro is stylish and pleasant to drive. It has a higher driving position than most hatchbacks with an adjustable steering wheel and a manually adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support. Features in the base model ‘2’ include an 8″ touchscreen display, reversing camera system, smart cruise control and LED daytime running lights. The next model up is the ‘3’ which comes complete with an 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, 10.25″ touchscreen satellite navigation and black leather upholstery. If you are looking for memory recall on your driver seat you’ll want the ‘4+’ trim which also benefits from LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors and 8-speaker JBL® Premium Sound System.
Interior Space
There’s plenty of space in the front and a good distance between the driver and front passenger. In the front, you’ll find storage in the generous glovebox, shelves for your phone and keys and two cupholders. The rear passenger seats are also roomy and can fit three adult passengers with plenty of head and legroom. Despite the extra room for batteries, the boot is surprisingly spacious with a 451-litre capacity.
