First Mercedes M8 in Glasgow

Allan Pyott lands

December 9, 2008

Allan Pyott, an entrepreneur from Chryston in Glasgow, recently purchased a new Mercedes-Benz M8 from Cab Direct.  His is the first Mercedes hackney taxi to be seen on the ranks of the city.

Allan, who owns various properties and a pub, was once a driver of a TX11 himself until he decided to rent his cab out.  Since then he has bought a TX4, also to rent, and now more recently the Mercedes-Benz M8.  But having always driven and owned TX’s, what changed Allan’s mind with his latest purchase?

Allan explains: “When I decided to buy another cab, my initial thought was to buy another TX4.  But then as soon as I considered the alternatives, I quickly changed my mind and realised that the M8 was the one for me.”  And Allan has really noticed the difference: “There’s no comparison.  The Mercedes is far superior – the quality speaks for itself.”

A Pleasure to Drive

There is little doubt that the Mercedes-Benz brand has a reputation for quality and durability.  And the M8 taxi is no different.  Based on the Mercedes-Benz Vito, the M8 cab is the result of collaboration between Cab Direct and the German-based vehicle manufacturer.  Tailor made for the professional taxi driver and complete with full, purpose-built hackney specification, the M8 brings you the ultimate new taxi combining the quality, reliability and style that are the hallmarks of the Mercedes-Benz family.

Allan’s drivers are delighted with his new vehicle.  Allan comments: “The drivers absolutely love it, especially compared with the TX.  They’ve told me they don’t feel like they are doing a taxi shift anymore.  The trip-tronic automatic gearbox is excellent, it makes a huge difference.”  And customers have noticed too, Allan says: “Lots of punters have commented, saying it’s a far more comfortable fare in terms of the smooth suspension.”

Driver and passenger comfort have also proved big selling points with Allan: “The drivers love the luxury of the M8 taxi, both in terms of comfort and the interiors”.

The spacious and bright driver compartment offers many practical features – from low height access to the driver cab to a comfortable and supportive driver’s seat, ergonomically shaped for a commanding driving position and offering numerous adjustment options.

Allan continues: “The space in the cab is phenomenal too.  The drivers were a little concerned at first that it might have been too big but they couldn’t be happier now that they are actually driving the taxi.”

With high quality engineering reliability, together with service intervals of up to 18,000 miles and a 3 years unlimited mileage Mercedes-Benz warranty, the M8 cab offers a hackney taxi with more than a touch of class.
