In 20 years time when people are discussing great cricketing occasions of the past you can be sure that the dramatic 2nd test of the 2005 Ashes Series will be mentioned.
Incredible, unbelievable and amazing are all superlatives that could be used to describe England’s narrow two-run victory over their old adversaries from the southern hemisphere. Paceman Steve Harmison undoubtedly rescued England with all hope almost gone. Forcing Mike Kasprowicz into evasive action as he gloved the ball to wicket-keeper Geraint Jones, the Durham bowler sent Edgbaston into a frenzy.
One man who will never forget the match was Kevin Wood who attended on the crucial third day with his father David after winning the Cab Direct Ashes cricket competition. Kevin had just purchased a new Skoda Octavia Classic from Cab Direct, which he finds smooth and comfortable with plenty of room.
Kevin enthused, “My dad and I had a wonderful day at Edgbaston. We were treated like royalty and were lucky enough to witness what the press are calling the greatest test match of all time, which I couldn’t disagree with.”
Cab Direct Area Sales Manager Terry Suddaby accompanied Kevin and his father on the day, following Angela Davidson’s special efforts to make sure the tickets arrived safely.
“I must thank Terry for being a wonderful host on the day and Angela for somehow making sure I got the tickets even though I was on holiday at the time and managed to lose my mobile phone!” laughed Kevin.
“It was certainly the best sporting event I have ever been to and I will remain forever grateful to Cab Direct” said Kevin.
