Working to the highest standard of quality and safety when producing our vehicles is right at the top of the list of priorities for our production employees.
We went behind the scenes and caught up with quality control coordinator, Alan, who has the important job of ensuring all vehicles are up to standard before leaving the factory. In this role, organisation, attention to detail and prioritisation are just a few of the skills required. With the volume of output ever increasing at the UK’s leading taxi specialist, this is no easy task.
Hi Alan, how long have you been working with Allied Vehicles?
“I started in 1982, with a predecessor company called Ashfield Motors.”
“It’s a very hands on role and we’re always kept busy.”
So you’ve been here a long time! Describe a normal working day?
“It’s always busy. We see 20-25 cars a day through production. As a quality control coordinator I organise the day to day activities. These include quality control checks and carrying out pre-delivery inspections. Any issues are then corrected before the vehicle is released for delivery to our customer.”
What do you like about your job?
“I enjoy the different challenges that are thrown up every day. It’s a very hands on role and we’re always kept busy. The team of people I work with are all great too, we all take great pride in the quality of our vehicles.”
What about any challenges?
“The introduction phase for new products can be challenging as we have to know every model inside out. I was here when our first own-design vehicles were manufactured and it’s amazing to see how things have grown and changed over the years.”

Where do you see yourself in future?
“Ideally I’d like to carry on with what I’m doing, as I really enjoy the job.”
