Cab driver Mohammed Ilyas recently completed Cab Direct’s latest prize draw card whilst sitting on the rank waiting for a job.
Forgetting all about the entry Mohammed was bowled over when he received a call to say he’d been picked as the lucky winner!
Seeing is Believing
The long-term cabbie couldn’t quite believe his luck and wasn’t convinced until Cab Direct field-based manager, Simon Guilliatt, called to make arrangements to hand over his winnings.
Mohammed commented: “When Simon rang and said he wanted to meet me and take a photo, that’s when it really sunk in I’d won. At that point, I knew it was real and was over the moon!”

Mr Ilyas received his cheque from Cab Direct in his local area at the historic Banbury Cross, where he told us: “I’m taking the rest of the day off!” After driving a taxi for 30 years, including an 18-year stint in Manchester, we think he deserves it!
Cashing In
With a £1,000 boost to his back pocket, Mohammed has already planned how he’s going to spend the money, saying: “I’m going to treat my wife to dinner somewhere nice and then spend the rest on decorating the house.”
