Aberdeen cabbie Alec Craigen is finding life much easier thanks to Cab Direct. Alec recently took delivery of a Fiat Freedom from the country’s leading taxi supplier and has subsequently found caring for the disabled much less difficult. The reason?
“I’m not exactly the biggest taxi driver in the world,” explained Alec!
“Until now, passengers in a wheelchair would worry about whether I could get them in and out,” said Alec, who is five foot six. “But the Fiat Freedom has proven just how easy it can be.”
The Fiat Freedom benefits from a range of features designed to make transporting disabled passengers easier. “Most important to me was the electronic winch, which pulls the chair into the taxi automatically,” said Alec.
The Freedom also comes with a 4-point restraint system as well as lap and diagonal belts, meaning that the chair is completely secure once in place.
Alec has been impressed with the vehicle’s performance as well. “The fuel economy has been excellent,” he said, highlighting the benefits of Fiat’s 1.9 JTD engine.
The vehicle has not gone unnoticed, either. Alex said that many passengers have been particularly impressed with the vehicle, and how easy it has become to transport disabled passengers.
“I’m going to have to watch out,” he said. “Many other cabbies in Aberdeen are now thinking of changing their vehicles over to Freedoms as well!”
