400 Miles and 2 Ferries!

When it comes to taxi fares some are different and others simply routine. However, not many involve a return journey to another country that includes a sea crossing!

E7 driver Padraig Bannon has been in the trade for a number of years and thought he had seen it all. “I’m a pretty open minded person so not many things surprise me. However, when I got the call to find out if I could do the job I couldn’t help thinking that someone was pulling my leg!” joked, Padraig.

Padraig collected his passenger, Alistair Mackay, at 8:00am in Cushendall in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. They then drove to Larne where they boarded the ferry that would take them to Troon, in South West Scotland.

“My passenger was a disabled gentleman who needed a comfortable wheelchair vehicle for his trip. The E7 is perfect for transporting wheelchair passengers safely, which is why Mr Mackay requested my services,” commented Padraig.

After arriving at Troon, Padraig and Alistair travelled via Glasgow and on to their final destination near Loch Lomond.  Once Mr Mackay had concluded his meetings there the pair were ready to make the return trip to Cushendall.

“I couldn’t have been more comfortable throughout the whole journey,” declared Alistair.  “The E7 taxi has clearly been built with wheelchair passengers in mind which makes such a difference to travelling for people like me.”

The pair arrived back in Cushendall at 2.30am after the marathon trip. Certainly an unusual fare – and nice work if you can get it!
