Cabbies Support Glasgow and Edinburgh Kids Charity Outings

June 20, 2019

Established in 1945, the Glasgow Taxi Outing has helped over 60,000 underprivileged kids have a day out to the seaside.  Every year Glasgow taxi drivers give up a day of earnings to make this annual trip such a success.

Donating their valuable time, dressing up their wheelchair accessible taxis and wearing fancy dress to entertain the children, the drivers go all out for the occasion. People line the route leaving from Glasgow city centre to wave to the convoy of taxis filled with children excited about going to Troon for the day.

Cab Direct is delighted to be one of the many sponsors of this event.

Similarly, taxi drivers in Edinburgh took part in the 73rd Edinburgh Taxi Trade Children’s Outing last week – many of them in their wheelchair accessible taxis.

This annual outing was formed after the Second World War to help disadvantaged children and families – the trip wouldn’t be possible without the support of sponsors and all the taxi drivers involved.

A representative from Cab Direct thoroughly enjoyed the trip last Tuesday and was delighted to present a cheque for £500 to support the event. The winner of the ‘best balloon taxi’ was an impressive highland cow and the ‘best float taxi’ award was given to the well-thought-out robot. All the drivers went to a great effort and the wonderful display went down a treat with the children.

Cab Direct Edinburgh General Manager, Sandra Bendall, commented: “I love taking part in the outing. It’s great to see the trade really pulling together to make sure they can provide the day out. To see the children so happy is wonderful and makes it all worthwhile.”

Cab Direct is delighted to play a huge part in the community – well done to everyone involved!
