Congratulations to the 95 taxi drivers in Bedford who recently received their NVQs after passing a three month training course at Bedford College.
The course, aimed at raising standards of customer service, gives taxi drivers a qualification equivalent to five GCSEs – no mean feat given that most of us haven’t attempted studying since the days of…well, in a very long time – if at all for that matter!
Bedford Council’s Keith Simmons told the “The council is committed to developing a professionalised taxi trade in Bedford to meet the needs of local residents and businesses.
“This project is a major contribution to this aim and has brought government funding into the Bedford economy. In addition, it has given each of the taxi drivers a qualification which demonstrates transferable skills and will support their personal development.”
