Anne McGuire MP visited Cab Direct's manufacturing plant in Glasgow just ahead of being reconfirmed in her post of Minister for Disabled People, in Gordon Brown's new administration.

After meeting with chairman Gerry Facenna and managing director Paul Nelson, Anne McGuire took a tour of the Cab Direct factory and saw for herself some of the latest innovations in accessible vehicles for disabled people.

Among them was the recently launched New E7 taxi, manufactured jointly by Cab Direct and Peugeot, which offers a range of features designed to assist people with a variety of disabilities, including enhanced wheelchair access.

Speaking after her tour Anne McGuire said:

"I welcomed the chance to come to Cab Direct and see the range of vehicles and adaptations they can provide to meet people's personal transport needs.

"The new E7 taxi also impressed me - and I was pleased to hear that feedback from disabled people and disability organisations influenced its design."
