Wirral Welcomes E7
After years of campaigning Wirral taxi drivers were recently delighted when the local council passed the Peugeot E7 for use as a hackney taxi. Having seen the vehicle on the streets of towns and cities elsewhere across the UK they are now looking forward to lowering their purchase and running costs, as well as providing the public of Birkenhead and surrounding areas with an even better service.
Since the E7 was passed in March Cab Direct have been overwhelmed by the interest from local drivers who wanted a closer look at the vehicle. This was emphasised when the Cab Direct roadshow came to Tranmere Rovers Prenton Park in Birkenhead.
Although the weather wasn't the most pleasant it stayed dry which meant everyone could spend time looking at the vehicle properly. The event attracted a bumper turnout of drivers and they certainly weren't disappointed, with many taking advantage of a test drive.
"I want one!" commented a very impressed local cabbie who went on to explain: "I came along today not sure what to expect as I'd heard so many different things about the Peugeot E7. However, if the truth be told I was very pleasantly surprised with what I saw. The E7 is far more comfortable to drive than my TXII and the turning circle is much better than some people would have you believe."
While dozens of drivers were busy finding out more about the E7 for themselves, Phil Stewart was also at the event to collect his brand new E7 XS. To say he was excited would be an understatement, as his vehicle is sure to turn heads no matter where he goes.
Phil explains: "When Wirral Council passed the E7 recently me and many of colleagues were delighted as we now have the opportunity to drive a modern vehicle that operates successfully in places such as Glasgow, Birmingham and Newcastle. Initially I wasn't sure what model to go for but when I saw the huge list of extras you get with the XS as standard my mind was made up."
The E7 XS includes twin electric side steps, Blaupunkt satellite navigation, alloy wheels and a rear parking sensor all as standard, making it the taxi every driver would love to own.
Phil continued: "I'm looking forward to making a living using a vehicle that's been built to meet the needs of guys like myself. The EasyGlide ramp will make loading and unloading wheelchair passengers much quicker while my running costs will be much better due to the E7's excellent fuel economy and better reliability."
Cab Direct's Managing Director Gavin Gillies commented, "We're delighted that Wirral drivers now have the opportunity to choose what vehicle they use. The feedback has been highly positive so far and this is highlighted by the number of orders we've already received."
"I'm sure that Phil will enjoy driving his new, top-of-the-range E7 XS. It's the type of vehicle that will make him stand out from the crowd no matter where he is," concluded Gillies.
