Carlisle-based taxi driver John Moore says the Peugeot E7™ is ‘absolutely spot on’. And he should know – before he joined the trade he was a mechanic with the local bus company for 22 years.
John explains: “I left that job four years ago and decided to come into the taxi trade. It’s great to be your own boss. I absolutely love it.”
John is equally enthusiastic about his new E7 taxi, which he picked up in March 2010. “For a disabled cab I don’t think you can go past the E7. I enjoy driving it and it makes going to work an absolute pleasure,” John says.
John didn’t make his decision on which cab to buy lightly. Before he bought John took a good look up and down the ranks to see what was on offer. It was the E7, designed and manufactured jointly by Peugeot and Cab Direct, that caught his eye.
John says: “The lad who used to do my mechanical work has also become a taxi driver. He bought himself an E7 and was made up with it. I gave it the once over and had no hesitation in going for it.”
Among other features the E7 taxi has a specially crafted driver’s seat with active, pump-action height and tilt adjustment and extra lumbar support – ideal when you’re spending long hours behind the wheel. Excellent road holding and modern suspension mean the ride is as smooth for passengers as it is for you, ensuring a comfortable trip every fare.
John’s certainly giving his cab high praise. “It’s really well designed. There’s bags of space for the luggage and with seven seats for extra passengers, it’s the business. Fuel economy is a lot better than other cabs, too.”
Access for All
Another big plus point for John is the amount of space that the E7 hackney cab affords him, especially when it comes to wheelchair fares. He explains: “Customers really love the space in the E7 taxi. I think they’re as pleased with the new cab as I am! Wheelchair customers, in particular, are over the moon. It takes no time to get them on board.”
Wheelchair access is made quick and easy thanks to Cab Direct’s clever EasyGlide™ under-floor pull out ramp. E7’s wide doorway, large flat-floor area and improved headroom also mean that manoeuvring wheelchair passengers into the right travelling position is simple and straightforward.
Dealer-wise John is equally delighted. “The service I received from Cab Direct was first class. Nothing was too much trouble. Even now, I’m sure if there were any problems they would be sorted out as soon as possible. Everyone involved in the company has been absolutely spot-on all the way along.”
As for the cab John concludes: “I would recommend the E7 taxi in a minute. I think it’s the best taxi on the road, especially when it comes to wheelchair adaptability.”
